Delicious Japanese food hall with coconut and matcha soft serve, sushi, ramen, curry, salads, and a galore of donuts! It's nice to see a few vegetarian dishes on the menu! There's complimentary ice water and plenty of indoor seating, I wish there was outdoor seating. The Veggie Ramen was very filling with flavorful broth, chewy noodles, and a heap of veggies. Will definitely order it again in the winter! The coconut and matcha soft serve was quite sweet and fun to try. There's a variety of colorful cone flavors to choose from. Don't worry they all taste the same and it's just food coloring. Warning: The cone starts to leak quickly and recommend getting a cup/bowl. The ice cream is also pretty sweet on its own and the waffle cone just adds to the sweetness and becomes overkill. The galore of yeast donuts looked very tempting, and were a bit disappointing. I paid $0.50 extra for matcha cream filling and was quite bland. Next time, I'll just save more room for the matcha soft serve! Excited to come back for some ramen and try other dishes on the menu!

This was the best meal I've had in DC and was worth every penny. Unfortunately I'm not rich enough to afford this splurge often, but for a special occasion, I highly recommend Love Makoto. I've only been to the bbq section, but the establishment features a sushi restaurant and an Izakaya. The quality of the meat alone made the meal, but the accompanying sauces and side dishes were a cherry on top. Our servers were extremely tolerant of me and my friend's short attention span, as we constantly had them coming back to tell us which cuts were which. Never once did they seem anything less than eager to answer our question.

We just tried Dear, Sushi a few weeks ago for my Birthday and knew we needed to also try Beloved BBQ for our anniversary too. Beloved BBQ is located right before Dear, Sushi and after Hiya Izakaya. We were seated pretty quickly and saw that it was pretty busy around when we got there (7pm) but it was also Mother's Day so it made sense. We opted to do the Omakase and also add on a few other dishes based on our server's recommendations. We also got the Milk Buns, Mochi Potato, and the Udon "Mac" and Cheese. We got served all our meat at once and were instructed to go from left to right on our plates and cook them for about a minute on each side. They were all delicious by themselves but the sauces were so good too. There was even a sauce we were told was made with ground beef. The pickle plate that was part of the Omakase was a great accompaniment to the meat. The Milk buns were so fluffy and the miso honey butter gave it so much flavor. The Udon Mac and Cheese were like little cheese pillows and were very good. Our favorite side might be the Mochi Potato though. So cheesy, creamy, and crispy with a nice truffle flavor. It was pretty great. We got the Sakura Sour and the Toki Highball to drink and both were solid, no complaints about that. Very great Japanese BBQ. We left very full and I would say the Omakase is worth it. I will need to come back here to try their other cuts, maybe even the Wagyu tower.

3 restraunts and a bar and a food hall. They mostly have fixed menu with all different twists on their menus. We came before the restraunrs opened and hit the food hall. They have Ramen, sushi, salad, curry and sandwhich options with sides as well. You order at the kiosk and enter your phone number. They text and call your name once your order is ready. A lovely lady named Robin created us and explained the entire set up which is why were going to have to come back lol. Robin is someone any and every service business needs! If you're getting spicy Ramen I highly reccomend to get the spice with to get the spice yourd be expecting in a spicy bowl. Overall good food and experience with authentic taste. The shrimp tempura was amongst the best I've ever had. No lies told.

Overall, I would recommend this restaurant, especially Beloved Barbecue. But I do think they can do a couple things to really improve themselves. 1. More variety of A5 and other cuts of beef, since they're not serving other meats. 2. Bring back the beef yukhoe! So delicious but no longer available. 3. More variety for desserts. They basically only have two options which can be heavy with chocolate. Maybe a mochi or a daifuku would be nice. 4. Some of the Banchan are good while others aren't. I like the spinach and the red cabbage, but I thought the cucumbers were seasoned inconsistently (sometimes it had the right amount of seasoning, other times not). I also thought the salted yellow squash was too plain and boring since it only had sesame oil and salt. Service is efficient and polite. Food came out quickly and we never had to ask for refills. It's a bit dark, so you may need to ask the servers to turn on the lights or bring your flashlight in. It's a good spot for A5 barbecue in DC, but it still doesn't quite measure up to the options in NYC.

Ok wow. Beloved BBQ far exceeded my expectations. Sorry in advance for blurry pictures - trying to cook and eat and snap while everything was hot was a fun flurry of activity and only after am I realizing not all the pics turned out! But the food, that absolutely did turn out. Check out the pics to see exactly what we ordered for two. Literally nothing disappointed. The milk bun with miso honey butter had a generous hunk of butter in the middle which was a cool surprise. The topping was like a furikake everything bagel - just bursting with umami. The texture of the bread was everything you'd expect from a fluffy warm milk bun. The wagyu fried rice was perfectly crispy and flavorful thanks to the hot stone bowl it was served in. All the meats were epic. Amazing flavor, cooked perfectly, just great marbling that you could see raw. Each was served with a few extra veggies and a bit of beef fat to season the grill. That created a bit of an intense fire over the grill and i think I'd have preferred if the waiters spread the fat or they gave us bigger tongs for that. Other than that though, the service was so friendly and helpful. They didn't rush us but they were efficient which was a perfect balance. And they took a cute pic of us on a Polaroid at the end of the meal to commemorate the special occasion we were celebrating. By far my new fav kbbq spot in dc. Reasonably priced for what you get which is very high quality food made of solid ingredients. Still thinking about it the next morning!

Love Makoto is a Japanese food hall with different offerings from sushi, izakaya, bbq and more. This review is only for Hiya Izakaya. We came for their happy hour (4-6pm daily) and got the Dekopon Daisy, Rotating Highball, Tuna Crispy Rice, Tebasaki, and Momo. I really enjoyed the robata yaki dishes (Tebasaki, Momo), as the chicken was juicy and flavorful. The tuna crispy rice was also good, with a good ratio of tuna and rice. The dekopon daisy was good, and quite strong, but a little too sweet for me. The rotating highball had too much of the liqueur so it was also too sweet. I would come back to try other dishes and the other offerings. I really liked the interior, however it was dark in some areas.

This review is for the Hiya Izakaya and Beloved BBQ. We first went to the Izakaya for drinks and apps, as their HH was still in effect. I had the Dekopon Daisy cocktail, which was delicious and tasted kind of like a margarita (maybe because of the yuzu). We also got the tuna crispy rice, which came with 2 bite-sized pieces and were so yummy. We then headed over to the middle section of the food hall, and sat down for our BBQ experience! I was not grill master and thoroughly enjoyed getting to eat everything my bf grilled. The experience was so lovely and the food were all so tasty that the only thing I took a photo of were the milk buns. Specifically, the milk buns were so fluffy and the accompanying miso butter was savory and melted into the buns. We also got the charred edamame, which may now be my favorite way to eat edamame. Both of us were so surprised at just how good the edamame got because of the charred / grilled flavor. For our main meal, we each got the omakase. From what I've heard, their omakase menu is no longer American meats versus Japanese meats so this new omakase menu featured all US meats (hanger steak, filet, wagyu, and short rib). To neither of our surprise, we both liked the tender wagyu the most. The omakase ends with a mango popsicle and it was average at best.
